Yes, I took a much needed hiatus and now I am back with a STORE!
There are so many things I have been working on for 2024. It’s been a very LONG haul for the last 3 years with things being so volatile, but I have been working on so many things for Pretty Tasty Gardens!
Return to Social – I have come back to social. It’s not that I “couldn’t stay away” – It was just a practical business strategy. I could stay away indefinitely without question! But a business needs reach. Luckily, I do run it personally! So if you need to contact me regarding anything, you will be conversing with a real person on the other end! Yes, I have also a facebook page, but you’re better off emailing me directly. 2024 is gonna be a year of production. Between re-teaching myself to use social again, and now adding a store, It’s about to get crazy! The store is now complete and I am adding stock almost daily now. I will have more stock as we get closer to valentines day! For now, you can take advantage of some really great items!
Mushroom kits are a new fun product I have been selling – it’s my first time stocking it, but thankfully not my first time using one! These are so amazing to have in your indoor kitchen garden! You can tuck this little brick (I call it a brick) into that awkward spot on the kitchen counter, and it’s so fun to watch it sprout and grow over and over again! It is the most incredible thing to eat the very thing you’ve grown, especially in the winter. I have the oyster mushroom growing on my kitchen counter, and I have been lucky to harvest at least 3 times from it so far! I’m looking to extending it, so I MAY be experimenting with this in the coming weeks… you’ll have to keep a lookout on my instagram page for the updates! I am currently featuring Shitake and Lion’s Mane in the store. Both are fantastic in taste and as a superfood!
Pollinator seeds are also for sale! The Pretty Tasty brand is sticking to pollinating flowers and herbs, but hoping to add other really great vegetables seeds as well. I am featuring marigold, hyssops, poppies, calendula, Korean perilla, hollyhock, etc. Most of the flower seeds work multiple roles as pollinators, herbs, and with basic medicinal applications that are easy to use in your home hobby apothecary (I leave the more complicated stuff to the herbalists). This year will be my 3rd year selling live seedlings, and will be preparing my third lineup of seedlings ready for spring sale.
Many years ago, early in my garden blogging days, I had the lovely fortune of interviewing Warren Hoselton – Arborist and then-manager of the Toronto Islands. Every young student and home schooler/public schooler/daycare/Montessori devotee should know the ever eccentric and tree-hugging Professor Elwood Pricklthorn. And now you can with his complete activity series (Jr, Sr, True Tree Crimes) that takes you deep into the world of trees and the urban ecology! Learn the role trees have and how they operate in the city – their relationship to the soil, and it’s wild web of fungi; do some tree trivia and – AAAND – if you are a school or a learning facility, you can invite him to teach IN PERSON!
This is one of my most favourite things – POSTCARDS. I know. I kinda feel somewhere between getting old and already retired. I never understood the joy of snail mail; it’s usually always bills in my mailbox! But why not extend something a little more personal besides a ‘text’? I made the Power Flowers postcard collection with the intention of sharing botanical pictures with some basic (but powerful) qualities of each flower. Makes great present as a set or a lovely way to reach out to someone who’s living farther away, or you see less often. Digital is so impersonal, no matter the intent, so why not send your friend/family a little something handwritten?
I am working on additional lines of products for you all who are eager to start their own garden, but still standing at the beginning of your journey. As I say above, this year is gonna be very productive and hectic, I am hoping. If you are interested in growing in your back yard, your kitchen, and your balcony, keep checking back, as I keep adding products and updating you!
Gratefully greeting 2024. Thank you all for continuing to follow me on my path…What a year to look forward to!
-Lindsay
